Things A Parent Should Know About Childs Health

The term ‘child’ health’ encompasses many areas. It comprises the physical and mental health of the child, his happiness, contentment and also social security. A mother has to ensure the child′s health right from the stage of the foetus until he is old enough to understand what is good for him and what is not.

Thus it is important for parents to first follow healthy life habits so that the child born to them is healthy and then inculcate a disciplined and healthy life in their offspring so that the children grow to be healthy and responsible human beings.

Here are some areas that you, as a parent, should know to ensure the health of your child:

The child′s growing up years: From the first day to the first year, the child exhibits several growing up signs. There is a specific time for the child to turn over, crawl, smile, laugh, speak or walk. If there is any delay in any of these activities, then you should consult a doctor immediately for it can mean developmental problems.

Studies and research have found that breast milk contains DHA which has positive effects on the intellectual development of a child. It is also said that breastfeeding increases the connection between a child and its mother.

Regular vaccinations:Vaccinations are the best way to prevent any diseases in future and hence care should be taken that the child is vaccinated as and when it is needed.

Appointment with doctor: A child′s appointment with doctor should never be missed. In fact, regular check-ups are needed for a child. Never dismiss any health problems in a child as mild. It is best to consult a doctor for even small sickness.

Be an example to kids: Children often imitate elders. Thus it is important that as parents, you set a perfect example before kids not just in healthy habits but even in values. If you are going to eat healthy, your children will not have any other option but to follow suit.Smoking and alcohol are injurious to health and thus it is best avoided. Secondary inhalation of smoke can lead to various diseases as well. So quit smoking and drinking for the sake of your child′s health.

Control your anger: Shouting at children or using abusive words in their presence can lead to a negative impact on children and affect their self-esteem. In fact, studies have been found that children, who were verbally abused during their growing up years, grow up to be diffident and socially inactive adults.

Inculcate good habits: Good habits can come from day 1 itself. You do not have to force a child to learn good habits. In fact, lovingly make him to do things that are good for his health like brushing teeth well twice a day, wearing clean clothes, maintaining hygiene, eating healthily, going to bed early and rising early and so on. Setting up a proper sleeping time is also a good habit that a child should inculcate.
